Why did you create your blog?

I just joined a new blog group in FB, the friendly bloggers. And the above title was one of the questions you need to answer before you get to be accepted as a member. And  that inspired me to write this post

I started blogging way back 2005. Our team at work was reshuffled. We were so close that one of my colleagues asked us to guest post on the team blog that she created, as a way of communicating to each other, even though we are just cubicles apart. No we don't have email, not even messenger. SEPANX was real, we would post how we miss the company of our previous team. And that has encouraged me to create my first personal blog account.

My first entry then was still about a day in my life without my previous workmates. I was using it as journal, telling my everyday stories trying to be witty and funny all the time, sharing it to world. I enjoyed blogging so much:writing a post, designing the layout and coding. I just love the process of blogging per se. I don't even the check the stats of my blog, when it was still in available to the public. Google even sent me a voucher at my physical address to use for adwords, which I didn't use back then because it didn't know what it it was before. By the time I googled what it is for, it was already expired.

But then there were days that you have this heavy feeling of unknown loneliness, you are afraid to share it to anyone at all. So I shouted those thoughts and feelings by writing it in my blog, which made me keep it in private mode up to this date. I used blogging as theraphy. Then I went in hiatus, I have been busy with my life and work, that my adsense account was reset last year.

By mid last year, I started to work from home. And last three months ago, I created this blog with the intention to share what's on my mind, the usual post that I am not able to share to anyone, which I eventually deleted.

I am not gonna be a hypocrite, perhaps monetize in the future also. That I was even lured to the click for click strategy on some Facebook groups. I thought that was what my previous employer meant on her blog, when she said that she gets traffic from blogger groups in FB. Good thing someone in that group, posted how blog sharing should be. I can't believe that I read blogs that are written in foreign language other than English just to increase my pageview, which in reality hurts your stats.

So that's reason I created my blog, what's yours? Comment down below. :)

  4. I always wanted to write a book but I didn’t know how to start. I loved the blogging idea because you don’t have to write about one topic, or your life in 250 pages. It can be whatever you want.

  5. I created my blog just as an outlet because I like to write. It's the whole networking and views part that's a challenge.

  6. Hi!

Excellent read! This post is certainly a good way to remind yourself on what motivated you to start a blog in the first place! :)

As for me, I am quite new to this blogging world. The main reason for setting up my blog was to document the insights and thoughts on my travelling journey and hopefully be able to exchange interesting insights with other like-minded readers from all over the world.

All the best for your blogging journey and looking forward to more exciting posts!

    Cheers!

  7. I have had several personal journal kinda "blogs." I used to pen my thoughts using stories and poems. It was my way of practicing creative writing.

  8. I love this. Talking about one's WHYs is very grounding and insightful.

I created my first blog in 2012 as a hobby, after 5 years I look back at it and realize who I became as a person. I made another one and now, I created it because of more genuine purposes. I love remembering the good days, sharing tips, and just talking about life :)
